Day...I dunno.

The other day (which other day, I dunno. But one of them. A day that is not today.) the photo challenge theme was "today's breakfast." And I didn't do it. Partly because my breakfast that day was a bowl of cereal, and that's boring. So I'm bending the rules a bit. I know it's supposed to be a picture you take the day of, but I'm using this picture of my breakfast from the other day. It's just breakfast after all, and it's my blog so I'll do as I please (this is the beginning of my downward spiral as I go mad with power. You have to start small, you see). 

A food photographer, I am not. Actually, an anything photographer, I am not. 

So, obviously this is the day I made popovers. Yum yum yum. I also had an omelet, which was rather ugly, because I don't make omelets the right way. I know how, but I'm about as stubborn as they come and I refuse to do it differently. And I had some melted chocolate chips leftover from making a cake glaze, so I dunked some apples in that. Because breakfast is a good time to have dessert, I think. 

Day Cuatro

Today's assignment made me go "wah wahhh" like Tyra Banks on Top Model. It was "clouds." It's not that clouds aren't cool and all, it's just that...you see them every day. And everyone in the whole world takes pictures of them. Nonetheless, take pictures I did. I even ended up liking more than one of them. So here's my two pictures of the day!

I still wouldn't say this revolutionized my viewpoint on cloud photography or anything, but it's a start I guess. 

Day shree

Day 3's assignment is "hands." Which is hard, because hands are kind of ugly. They're like the slightly less hideous but still not quite normal looking cousin of feet. It's like saying a word over and over until it stops making sense. Hands are fine at first glance,  but if you spend a good amount of time staring at them, you start to realize how weird they are. Or....that could just be me. I waste an awful lot of time just staring at things.

Ahem. Anyway, moving on to today's picture.

I got to sit in the Invalid chair and freak people out as they drove past to take this picture. It's just a chair sitting next to the window, but to me it looks like where you'd park your extremely old or mentally ill people so they can stare creepily out the window and watch the world go by. Because I have issues. 

On a related (to hands, not to mental illness) note, I'm pleased to report that my nails are finally nice again. For a while there they looked like absolute hell, because I was so stressed and anxious during the second half of the semester that I bit them all off compulsively.  So that's good!

They ain't no blue suede shoes.

Day 2 of the photo challenge is to take a picture of your favorite shoes. Te presento a ti: 

Here's why these are my favorites:
a) They were something like 20 bucks at Target.
b) I got them a half size bigger than normal and stuck Dr. Scholl's in 'em so they're secretly comfortable.
c) I'm about 5'9" when I wear them, so I can tower over everyone and stomp around like Godzilla. Until I see a picture of me in them with anyone else and realize I look like....well, like Godzilla towering over everyone. 

I need to go to a fabric store so I can start my next project. It's another dress, but it's just a regular ol' Simplicity pattern (not one designed by an evil sea witch-ahem Cynthia Rowley ahem). The only potential issue is it's going to be made from a stretchy knit, and all I've ever sewn with is straight-up cotton. But I've gotta learn somehow. 

Photo Challenge

I came across this the other day and thought "Oooh, that seems fun!" 

Basically, you just take a picture of a different thing each day for thirty days. And it has to be a picture you took that day, it can't be an old one. Anything that might motivate me to...I dunno, do anything creative, right? 

Plus I keep saying I'm gonna learn how to use my camera to its full potential, but I never do. This might help me finally get to know my camera. 

Day 1 is a self-portrait. Here's what I came up with.

I went with something pretty different to try and avoid myspace-ness, and I think I like the way it turned out, even though there are a few things I might like to change.  Although it's always hard to be objective about a picture when you're in it. And you took it. So everything is on you. Bleh.

Anyway, that's day 1!
